The third Corporate Governance Evaluation revealed its results a few days ago, Ta Ya, for 3 consecutive years, has ranked among the top 20% stock-listed companies. Compared with 6 other wires and cables companies that fall behind the top 51% in their evaluation report, Ta Ya has evidently showed an outstanding performance in the areas of corporate governance and corporate social responsibilities.
Ta Ya’s Chairman, Shen Shang-Hung, states, “Since its first corporate governance evaluation, Ta Ya has remained within the top 20% stock-listed companies for 3 consecutive years.” Since its inception 60 years ago, the company has adhered to honest management principles with sound corporate governance and implementation of corporate social responsibilities.
Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) says that based on the company’s governance blueprint and planning, the evaluation results of all evaluated companies will be disclosed starting from the 3rd year running. All evaluated companies will be ranked by the 7 brackets as follows: top 5%, top 6% to 20%, top 21% to 35%, top 36% to 50%, top 51% to 65%, top 66% to 80%, top 81% and further. According to the data disclosed by TWSE, Ta Ya and Walsin are the only two companies in the wires and cables sector that rank among the top 20%
In December 2011, the Ta Ya Board of Directors passed a consensus to set up the Remuneration Committee and in June 2012 added 3 independent board directors, it is the first company in the Taiwanese wires and cables sector to do so. In August 2012, Ta Ya voluntarily released its corporate social responsibility report, which is also an act unprecedented in the sector. Additionally, Ta Ya’s corporate bylaws clearly stipulate that the election of the board directors and supervisors adopts the “Candidate Nomination System,” and the shareholders can vote electronically, as all contribute to Ta Ya’s positive performance in the evaluation.
Ta Ya not only receives recognition in areas of corporate governance, but its product R&D and production is also compliant with the current green trend. Ta Ya is the first wires & cables corporate in Taiwan to produce entirely lead-free products, the first to research and develop the low-smoke halogen-free Green Wires and awarded with the special honor of Taiwan Green Classics Award, the first to obtain carbon footprint labelling, the first wires & cables corporate in Taiwan to release the CSR report, the first foreign-owned enterprise to be listed in the Vietnamese stock market, as well as the first wires & cables corporate in Taiwan to establish a foundation with a mission to promote “Pristine Homeland”. All of the above has meant substantial contribution to the industry and to the society.
