In response to Tainan City Government's Solar City project and Autonomous Regulations on Low-carbon City, Touch Solar Power - member of Ta Ya Group - recently acquired the first solar power license in Tainan. The solar power system will be installed at Ta Ya's Guanmiao Site and is scheduled to befin operations on May 26. Touch Solar Power began operation on February 23 this year with a total capacity of 2.39MW. The amount of carbon emission it reduces is equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of 3.5 Da'an Parks.

According to Vice President Chuang, Pa Kuei of Ta Ya's Energy & Telecom Cable Business Group, Ta Ya has leased out the rooftop of its Guanmiao Site to Ta Ya Green Energy Technology and Touch Solar Power for the construction of solar power system. The system has a rated capacity of 3MW, and the amount of electricity generated per year exceeds the amount of electricity used by Guanmiao Site for an entire month. In the next 5 years, Ta Ya Green Energy plans to work with affiliated companies including Touch Solar Power, Bravo Solar Power Industry and Bo Si Solar Energy Co., Ltd. to build solar capacity totaling 50MW, and set a new milestone achievement for Ta Ya's presence in the solar energy business.

Ta Ya has redefined its corporate vision to become "a leading brand for new energy, a creator of harmonious environment and pristine homeland, and a business trusted by employees, customers, shareholders, and society." To realize the company's visions toward renewable energy, "Ta Ya Green Energy" was founded in early 2014 to specialize in the construction of solar energy systems at suitable rooftops or locations. The solution has already been installed at: library of University of Kang Ning, renowned technology company in Tainan, prominent textile company in Changhua, and Ta Ya's Guanmiao Site. The company expects to increase total installed system capacity to 15MW by the end of 2016.

Ta Ya remains dedicated to pursuing a green economy characterized by environmental protection, green energy and sustainability, and has resolved to renewable energy sources such as solar power and wind power as a means to achieving that goal. Ta Ya's Green Wire (environmental-friendly cable) won the Green Classics Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2011.

To satisfy the increasing scope and capacity of solar power plants, Ta Ya has invested into the development of 1500V DC cables (PV-CQ) specifically for use with solar power plants. In 2016, the cable passed tests and obtained certification from Japan Electric Cable Technology Center (JECTEC). Featuring several advantages including high voltage DC, weather resistance and fire resistance, the cable has the potential to minimize loss on transmission, and offer more reliability when used in large capacity solar power systems. This cable represents a great contribution not only to the environment, but to Ta Ya's brand image as well.
