AMIT Co., Ltd., a company entrusted with the mission of bringing Taiwan's electromechanical industry back to glory, was founded this month by five of the nation's elite businesses, namely Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable, Mobiletron, ANSYS, Lutron Ind., and Universal Microelectronics.

Creative applications such as robotics, medical tools, drones etc all require "smart and energy-efficient motors" to power their movements. The government is currently supporting the development of intelligent mechanics and advanced electronics, as well as encouraging businesses to adopt innovative technologies and make creative applications of their products, and the keys to accomplishing these goals are power and efficiency. Furthermore, energy and carbon reduction initiatives undertaken by governments around the world have given rise to demands for more efficient motors, and the need for revolutionary motor technologies.

In response to these trends, AMIT has positioned itself as the design center for the world's electromechanical industry. Shen Shang-Hung, Chairman of Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable and AMIT, said that the name AMIT stands for "the A-team of all things MIT"; it provides end-to-end design and counseling, and offers four main services, namely: "subsystem design, testing and validation, production technology, and cloud."

AMIT will be working closely with customers from the design stage and introduce intelligent production technologies that help reduce production time and cost by as much as 1/3, and improve overall efficiency of the product delivered. Considering the possibility that designed products may be subject to regulatory requirements concerning efficiency, environmental impact, and safety during the sales stage, a cloud service platform will be established to bring manufacturers up to speed on customers' requirements worldwide.。

According to AMIT President Wu Jianyu, the letter M in the company's name stands for motor while A stands for advanced. Taiwan was once renowned for the production of motors, but when faced with the uprise of Chinese manufacturers, AMIT represents the hope of bringing Taiwan's electromechanical industry into higher end applications throughout the world.
