Mr. Lai Ching-te, premier of Executive Yuan, affirmed on September 12 that there would be a 3% pay raise for the military, public servants and teaching personnel starting from next year, as a gesture to start the pay-raise trend hoping that the private sector will follow suit. And within three days, the publicly listed company, TaYa Group did exactly that and decided to execute the pay raise from October onwards. Each employee would have extra NT$600 to their salary, in the form of meal subsidies so as to avoid tax levy. So it’s a tax-free raise, leaving employees feeling very grateful. The overall pay raise is calculated as 2.76% on average.
The Ta Ya Group was founded 62, and in that time became known for producing electric wires and cables. Currently headquartered in Tainan’s Guanmiao district with over 500 employees, Ta Ya Group responded immediately to the Government’s call for pay raises with fast implementation of a corresponding policy. This move has drawn the focus of the industry.
Mr. Shen San-Yi, President of Ta Ya Group, stated that over 500 employees will have their meal subsidy increased from the original NT$1,800 to NT$2,400, an equivalent of NT$600 pay raise. This HR benefit has been signed, approved, announced, and will be officially effective as of next month.
President Shen said that this benefit serves primarily as an echo to the government’s call for the industries to follow suit and increase the employee wages. Ta Ya enjoyed a revenue increase of 12.9% for the first half of the year, plus a favorable increase in profit compared to last year. Thus, Ta Ya has taken practical action showing appreciation for the hard working employees as well as a gesture to encourage employees to keep up good work.
President Shen said that the industry generally holds a positive view on the Executive Yuan’s pay raise for the military, public servants, and teaching personnel, and it is positive that the domestic economy will pick up again. In addition, with Mr. Lai Ching-te’s recent change in positions from being the Tainan Mayor to becoming the Premier, he announced a policy that is beneficial to all. Since Ta Ya is part of the local economy, it will of course show its support.
