The Fubon Guardians met the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions at their home turf in New Taipei today. Before the game, the Fubon Guardians invited TAYA Group Chairman Shang-Hung Shen to throw the first pitch of the game. He said that he had a good friendship with the Guardian’s advisor, Tai-Yuan Kuo, the general manager, Hua-Wei Lin, and the chairman of the Fubon Group, Ming-Chung Tsai. As an avid fan of baseball, Shen often comes to the stadium to watch baseball games, but this is the first time he’s ever thrown a first pitch, so he’s very excited.

Fubon Guardians general manager Hua-Wei Lin revealed that he and chairman Shang-Hung Shen were classmates in elementary school and both loved baseball when they were young. Therefore, seeing Shen on the field evoked fond and familiar memories.

“Of course I’m excited. I’ve loved baseball since I was a kid, but I’ve always been a spectator, and it’s exciting to actually be on the field,” said Shang-Hung Shen. He added that he had tried out for the baseball team when he was a kid, but he was punished by his teacher back in class, which interrupted his baseball dreams but left a lasting impression.

However, as an entrepreneur of Tainan origin, Shang-Hung Shen believes that growing up, “whether it was Golden Dragon, Seven Tigers Little League, etc., getting up in the middle of the night to watch the Williamsport Little League game on TV was a big deal back then.

When it comes to supporting the Fubon Guardians, Shen pointed out that “In addition to my personal interest in baseball, the company is also engaged in brand marketing, and he hopes that by sponsoring the Fubon Guardians baseball team, we can introduce our company to baseball lovers in New Taipei City and Taiwan.”

It came as no surprise that Chairman Shen has a “good foundation” in the sport. Not only was he praised for his “good use of wrist” in the pre-game warm-up, but he also pitched the ball smoothly on the field in support of the Fubon Guardians.
