Recently, netizens have reported an “ocean of plastic bottles” on Keelung Peace Island covering an area of around two basketball courts. These posts are shocking and underscore the importance of protection of our marine environments. Taya Group therefore decided to combine its family day event at Xinwu Green Tunnel with a beach cleaning activity. One hundred employees enthusiastically responded to the company’s call. At the same time, the Taya Pristine Homeland Foundation has officially initiated an “Electrical Wiring Safety Check Program for old buildings”. Owners of buildings 20 years or older in the greater Taipei area are welcome to apply for safety checks online.
The Xinwu Green Tunnel is a famous coastal recreation area in Taoyuan. A bike trip though the lush green and shady environment is pleasing, but drifts garbage litters the beaches everywhere. As of 2015, Cuprime Material Co., Ltd. and Cugreen Metal Tech Co., Ltd., two affiliates of the Taya Group located in Guanyin, Taoyuan, held their family day events for the Northern region in this area. Employees of United Electric Industry Co., Ltd. and the Taya Taipei Branch and their relatives are also invited to participate in the Xinwu beach cleaning activity.
Garbage was removed from assigned areas in a rapid manner under guidance and direction of Taya Group Chairman Shen Shang-Hung and top executives of participating enterprises. Braving strong winds and other difficulties, participants picked up every piece of garbage in high spirits with tongs in their gloved hands. Excellent results were achieved because even garbage trapped under wave breakers and in gravel banks was removed. After a well-deserved lunch, employees and their family members rode bicycles through the green tunnel. Some employees stated that this leisurely and worry-free bike ride brought them great joy.
In addition to its concerns for the environment, Taya’s CSR related actions also aim to enhance personal safety. By relying on the company’s expertise in the electric wire industry, Taya Pristine Homeland Foundation formed an electrical wiring safety team composed of volunteers in 2013. This team frequently visits neighboring communities of Taiwan HQ to raise electrical wiring safety awareness.
Starting this month, the company is cooperating with the Taiwan Professional Electrical Engineers Association in the organization of a one-year “Electrical Wiring Safety Check Program for Old Buildings”. Electrical technicians provide professional maintenance services including safety checks of electrical equipment, switchboard status testing, electrical leakage tests for device casing, and wire & cable insulation testing. Owners of buildings that are 20 years or older in the greater Taipei area are welcome to apply for safety checks online. Online registration:https://goo.gl/inBPsQ.
