The chairman of TAYA Group, Shang-Hung Shen, attended the opening ceremony of the 2022 Delonix Regia Forum and Green Inside Project organized by the TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation Pristine Homeland Foundation today (Sep. 24) and remarked that the purpose of the Foundation is to pay attention to environmental protection-related issues and regularly organize environmental protection activities, such as beach cleaning and wetland protection. Since 2007, the Foundation started to hold the Green Inside Project, and in 2012, held the first Delonix Regia Forum.

Shen pointed out that every year, the Delonix Regia Forum invites experts and scholars to share and discuss their practical experiences in environmental action through lectures and seminars, in order to inspire people to take positive actions for sustainable living. Plastics reduction equals carbon reduction, and is one of the main topics of this year's forum. In addition to the topic of marine plastic reduction, the waste reduction action of Alangyi Historical Trail also became the focus of discussion at this year's forum.

Shen, who visited the Alangyi Historical Trail four times, pointed out from personal experience that every time he visited, there were quite some drifting marine debris that he could not finish picking up, although it was not man-made, there was a risk to the environment and ecology. Therefore, he hopes that through this forum, the TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation will invest resources to lead the way and call on local people, environmental groups, volunteers and tourists to join in the action of reducing waste along the trail. With 300 people per day (the number of people allowed to travel the Alangyi Historical Trail daily), at 2 kg per person, the accumulation of a small amount of waste collected becomes significant, for concrete action to protect the trail.

It is reported that this year's Delonix Regia Forum has entered its 11th year, and the Green Inside Project is in its 13th year; the main theme of this year's Forum is “Good Practices in Plastics Reduction, Energy Saving, and Recycling.”

The TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation noted that with the rise of environmental protection awareness, the concept of protecting the ecological ocean and passing on sustainable practices, enterprises are prompted to reduce plastics, electricity saving and recycling to achieve low-carbon circular development, and through the power of public initiatives and enterprise promotion, it is expected that the earth will have a brighter outlook in the future.

The forum was divided into three segments: “Facts, Concepts, Actions”. In the first segment, Alice Hung, CEO of MicroPC Taiwan, spoke about the current situation with the topic of “Plastic Reduction Frenzy of the Younger Generation”. Next was a comprehensive forum titled “How to Create the Highest Value in Plastic Reduction and Recycling”, moderated by Tan Hochen, Director of TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation, inviting Yu-Fu Chang of U BAG Used Handbag Circulation Project and An-Tso Cheng of the Preparatory Office of the Formosa Association of Resource Recycling to be the panelists.

Finally, the Foundation's CEO, Celine Chen, represented the TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation and engaged in a dialogue with Alangyi Eco-Volunteer Hung-Yi Liu and Alangyi Historic Trail Guide/ Alangyi Tribal Kitchen owner Pei-Wen Lo regarding “Reducing Marine Debris in Alangyi Action Plan”.

The forum led local community members to form a preliminary consensus on “corporate measures to help beach sustainability” and to consider the role of corporations to contribute to the formation of a healthy ecology to promote sustainable projects.

In addition, for the Green Inside Project, the Foundation calls for entries from individuals or organizations that are involved in environmental protection in Taiwan. There are three types of awards: the Southern Spirit Award, the Pristine Homeland Award, and the Green Connection Award. The selected winners will be awarded NT$30,000 to NT$100,000 by the Foundation; Ta Ya continues to support these small and powerful voices with its actions.

As a matter of fact, Ta Ya's promotion of “Pristine Homeland” also starts with its own products. Ta Ya was the first company in Taiwan to take the lead in making its cable products completely lead-free, the winner of the first Taiwan Green Classics Award and the International Green Products Classics Awards from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the first cable manufacturer to issue a CSR report. The company has spared no effort in promoting environmental protection and corporate social responsibility. In recent years, Ta Ya has been actively investing in solar power generation and developing new business ventures in energy storage and green power sales, hoping to continue to contribute to the creation of “Pristine Homeland” in the renewable energy industry and realizing carbon neutrality.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that the Ta Ya Delonix Regia Forum has been held at the Chong Hua Hall of the Magic School of Green Technologies, National Cheng Kung University. The building is noted for being environmentally friendly both inside and outside, and is a landmark green building in Taiwan, and has been named the “World's Greenest Building”. In particular, the environmentally friendly electrical wiring used in the building, known as “Green Neuron”, used products from Ta Ya. Therefore, it is even more profoundly meaningful that the Ta Ya Delonix Regia Forum, which advocates environmental friendliness, is held here.
