In the face of the global threat of extreme climate conditions, energy transition is not only an international trend but also Taiwan’s future energy development strategy. Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable, a company deeply committed to environmental sustainability and having already integrated the spirit of ESG into its vision and mission, actively endeavors to create a comprehensive service chain encompassing energy generation, transmission, conversion, storage and management. It steadfastly aspires to be the “leading brand in energy integration.” Originating from Tainan, Ta Ya also recognizes the potential for the ancient city of Tainan to develop into a “green energy capital” and actively participates in Tainan’s energy strategies, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to collaborate with the city in contributing wholeheartedly to its vision of becoming Taiwan’s green energy city.

Nestled along the 400-year-old river of time, Tainan stands as Taiwan’s oldest city, renowned as the “Cultural Ancient Capital.” Meandering through its streets, one encounters a myriad of delightful surprises, ranging from historical architecture, ancient temples, natural wonders, and bountiful culinary delights. Tainan not only serves as the gateway to explore Taiwan’s past and present history, but also bears the potential to become a green energy city, thanks to its pleasant climate and abundant sunshine.

Beyond its rich culture, Tainan, beholder of the longest sunshine hours in Taiwan, also stands as a “green energy city.” Currently, Tainan boasts the highest solar power capacity, accounting for nearly 20% of the nation’s total and leading among the six major cities. With the establishment of the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, accompanied by the installation of solar power generation and energy storage facilities, it has become a model microgrid demonstration site, propelling Tainan to the forefront of Taiwan’s new energy development.

Pioneering the South, Creating Solar Power Plants in Syujia and Qigu

Emerging from its roots in Tainan, Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable recognizes the “green potential” the city possesses. Not only does the company actively establish its own energy storage facilities in Tainan, but it also harnesses the collective strength of affiliated enterprises to construct a 76MW solar power plant in Syujia and a fishery and electricity symbiosis solar power plant in Qigu. Embracing eco-friendly construction methods in energy infrastructure, such as incorporating foundation piles without disrupting the fish farms, Ta Ya strives for the harmonious coexistence of energy development and the local environment. Together with the ancient city of Tainan, it envisions a future journey towards becoming a green energy city.

Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable is dedicated to creating a seamless energy service chain, spanning from upstream energy development to downstream storage. In terms of solar energy, the group currently operates 61 rooftop and ground-mounted solar power plants across Taiwan, with a total installation capacity exceeding 200MW.

In terms of energy storage deployment, Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable recognizes the potential of Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) frequency modulation auxiliary services and has actively planned to participate in Taipower’s AFC power transactions since 2021. Additionally, its subsidiary, Bo Yao Power, offers green energy certificates and green energy supply services, enabling direct sales of green energy to private enterprises.

Harmonizing with the Environment, Creating a Beautiful Home

The rural farming and fishing villages of southwestern Taiwan are faced with the pressing challenge of significant population outflow. With each stride taken and every strategy implemented, Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable not only seeks to forge a new future for Taiwan’s energy development and foster harmonious coexistence with the environment but also aspires to contribute to the local economy in striving for mutual prosperity with the communities it serves.

Taking the Qigu Fishery and Electricity Symbiosis Solar Power Plant as an example, which serves the triple purpose of power generation, aquaculture and flood storage. In the realm of fishery and electricity symbiosis solar power, the principle of sustainable fish farming is upheld, utilizing the embankments of fish farms and water channels to accommodate green energy facilities. This not only provides suitable shading for the farms to prevent overheating during summer, but also incorporates wind-resistant structures during winter to withstand cold currents. With the combined benefits of flood storage, aquaculture and renewable energy generation, the Qigu Fishery and Electricity Symbiosis Solar Power Plant exemplifies a trilateral synergy that brings value to the local community.

The Syujia 76MW Solar Power Plant, on the other hand, adopts the approach of constructing natural detention basins, utilizing the installation of embedded piles and avoiding the need for soil filling, thus preserving the integrity of the existing fish farms. Upon completion, these farms serve as reservoirs for rainwater accumulation and flood detention, effectively assisting with drainage during the rainy season while revitalizing the local ecosystem. Furthermore, the water-retaining fish farms prevent the issue of dust pollution caused by the northeast monsoon winds.

Using the most environmentally friendly approach in driving the city forward and building a beautiful home together remains the steadfast and unwavering founding principle of Ta Ya.

Well Begun is Half Done

The core value of Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable in accomplishing any achievement is the philosophy of “well begun is half done.” Since 2008, Ta Ya has been committed to using environmentally friendly cable materials without PVC, earning the first-level environmental label issued by the Environmental Protection Administration. In the following year, the 161kV cross-linked PE cables obtained carbon footprint certification, and subsequently, Ta Ya developed ant-proof cables and achieved full lead-free transformation of PVC wires and cables.

In addition, Ta Ya has also dedicated itself to the development of the enameled wire business group in recent years, such as thermally conductive enameled wire and surge-resistant enameled wire, enhancing the lifespan of electric vehicles and electrical products, taking concrete actions to safeguard our beautiful home. Apart from its products, in 2012, the Wire Safety Volunteer Team was established, dedicated to promoting a culture of safe electrical usage in households. Since 2013, the team has actively engaged with communities in different districts of Guanmiao, fostering closer connections between Ta Ya and the local residents.

Ta Ya places great importance on environmental sustainability. In 2014, the company took action by officially entering the energy market, establishing Ta Ya Green Energy Technology and investing in Hengs Technology to embark on the solar power generation industry. In 2017, with a focus on the energy storage sector, Ta Ya recognized its role in facilitating the transformation of backup and resilient power grids, leading to the establishment of Union Storage Energy System. By integrating the concept of sustainability with its future corporate direction, Ta Ya aspires to become the “leading brand in energy connection,” strategically encompassing the five dimensions of energy generation, transmission, conversion, storage, and management.

Over the years, Ta Ya has been consistently promoting environmental sustainability, embodying the belief in creating a better home in order to safeguard this land for future generations. In the future, Ta Ya will gradually implement its energy strategy, dedicating efforts to the vision of transforming Tainan from an ancient capital into Taiwan’s green energy city.
