Supplier Code of Conduct

TAYA values its supply chain partners and expects to jointly drive sustainable transformation. To ensure a safe working environment, protect employee human rights, promote environmental protection, and uphold business ethics within TAYA’s supply chain, Taya Electric Wire & Cable Co., Ltd. has established this Supplier Code of Conduct based on the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct Version 7.0.
TAYA requires suppliers, contractors, service providers, and other business partners to comply with and respond to this Code in order to promote sustainable development across the value chain.
This Code consists of five sections:
A. Labor and Human Rights
B. Health and Safety
C. Environmental Protection
D. Business Ethics
E. Management System
 

A. Labor and Human Rights

TAYA complies with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Based on the above principles, TAYA establishes labor and human rights requirements for its supply chain and requires full compliance with the laws and regulations of the countries/regions where business operations are conducted.
1.    Prohibition of Forced Labor
Forced, bonded (including debt bondage), or contractually constrained labor, involuntary or exploitative prison labor, slavery, or human trafficking are strictly prohibited.
2.    Prohibition of Child Labor
Child labor (persons aged 15 but under 16 engaged in employment) shall not be used in any manufacturing process. Suppliers shall implement appropriate mechanisms to verify workers’ ages.
3.    Working Hours
Working hours shall not exceed the maximum limits stipulated by local laws. Weekly working hours shall not exceed 60 hours, including overtime, except in emergency or special circumstances. Overtime work must be voluntary, and workers shall be granted at least one day of rest every seven days.
4.    Wages and Benefits
Wages paid to workers shall comply with all applicable compensation laws, including minimum wage, overtime pay, and statutory benefits. Overtime compensation shall be higher than regular hourly wages in accordance with local laws.
5.    Prohibition of Inhumane Treatment
Any form of sexual violence, sexual harassment, physical or psychological coercion, bullying, public humiliation, or verbal abuse is prohibited.
6.    Non-discrimination / Anti-harassment
Suppliers shall provide a workplace free from harassment and illegal discrimination.
7.    Freedom of Association
Workers’ rights to freely associate, join labor unions, engage in collective bargaining, and participate in peaceful assembly shall be respected.

 

B. Health and Safety

Suppliers shall comply with occupational health and safety regulations and follow recognized standards such as ISO 45001 and relevant International Labour Organization guidelines.
1.    Occupational Safety
Hazard control shall be implemented through hierarchy of controls, including hazard elimination, substitution, engineering and administrative controls, protective maintenance, safety operating procedures, and safety training.
2.    Emergency Preparedness
Emergency response plans shall be established and emergency drills conducted at least once per year or in accordance with local legal requirements, whichever is stricter.
3.    Occupational Injury and Disease
Suppliers shall establish systems to prevent, manage, track, and report occupational injuries and diseases.
4.    Industrial Hygiene
Exposure to chemical, biological, and physical hazards shall be assessed and controlled.
5.    Physical Labor Work
Risks associated with heavy physical labor shall be identified and controlled.
6.    Machine Safety Protection
Machine hazards shall be evaluated, and protective devices and barriers shall be properly maintained.
7.    Public Health
Clean sanitation facilities, drinking water, and hygienic food handling facilities shall be provided.
8.    Health and Safety Communication
Appropriate occupational health and safety information and training shall be provided in a language workers can understand.

 

C. Environmental Protection

Suppliers recognize environmental protection responsibility as an essential part of producing high-quality products.
1.    Environmental Permits and Reporting
Suppliers shall obtain and maintain all required environmental permits.
2.    Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Energy Use
Suppliers are encouraged to establish GHG reduction targets and improve energy efficiency.
3.    Pollution Prevention and Resource Conservation
Actions shall be taken to minimize pollutant emissions and waste generation.
4.    Waste Management
Systematic measures shall be implemented for waste identification and responsible disposal or recycling.
5.    Air Emissions
Volatile organic compounds, aerosols, corrosive substances, particulates, and ozone-depleting substances shall be properly managed.
6.    Hazardous Substance Management
Hazardous chemicals and wastes shall be identified, labeled, and safely handled.
7.    Materials
Compliance with laws and customer requirements regarding restricted substances is required.
8.    Water Resource Management
Water usage and discharge shall be monitored and managed.
9.    Avoidance of Ecological Impact
Operations shall avoid negative impacts on local ecosystems.

 

D. Business Ethics

1.    Integrity Management
Zero-tolerance policy toward bribery, corruption, extortion, and embezzlement.
2.    No Improper Benefits
Bribery or improper benefits for business advantage are prohibited.
3.    Information Transparency
Business records must be accurate and transparent.
4.    Intellectual Property Protection
Respect intellectual property rights.
5.    Fair Trade and Competition
Fair trade, advertising, and competition standards shall be followed.
6.    Whistleblower Protection
Confidentiality and non-retaliation protections shall be provided.
7.    Conflict Minerals Prohibition
Materials originating from conflict regions shall not be used.
8.    Privacy Protection
Personal data shall be protected.

 

E. Management System

Suppliers shall establish or maintain a management system relevant to the scope of this Code. The management system shall ensure: (a) compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements related to operations and products; (b) compliance with this Code; and (c) identification and mitigation of operational risks associated with this Code. The management system shall also promote continuous improvement.
1.    Corporate Commitment
Suppliers’ human rights and environmental responsibility policies and statements shall demonstrate their commitment to legal compliance and continuous improvement. Such commitments shall be signed by senior management and displayed in the workplace in the local language.
2.    Management Accountability and Responsibility
Suppliers shall designate senior executives and company representatives responsible for ensuring the implementation of the management system and related programs. Senior management shall periodically review the operation of the management system.
3.    Legal and Customer Requirements
Suppliers shall establish procedures to identify, monitor, and understand applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements, including the requirements of this Code.
4.    Risk Assessment and Risk Management
Suppliers shall establish procedures to identify compliance, environmental, occupational health and safety, labor, and ethical risks related to business operations. Each risk shall be evaluated, and appropriate controls shall be implemented to manage identified risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
5.    Improvement Objectives
Suppliers shall establish written performance objectives, indicators, and implementation plans to improve social, environmental, occupational health and safety performance. The effectiveness of achieving these objectives shall be periodically reviewed.
6.    Training
Suppliers shall develop training programs for management and employees to implement company policies, procedures, and improvement objectives while meeting applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
7.    Communication
Suppliers shall establish communication mechanisms to ensure effective dissemination of policies, procedures, and improvement objectives to management and employees in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
8.    Employee Feedback, Participation and Grievance Mechanism
Suppliers shall establish continuous and feasible procedures, including effective grievance mechanisms, to assess employees’ awareness of practices covered by this Code and violations thereof, and to obtain employee feedback to promote continuous improvement. A safe environment shall be provided for employees to submit complaints and opinions without fear of retaliation.
9.    Audit and Assessment
Suppliers shall conduct regular self-assessments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, this Code, and social and environmental responsibility requirements in customer contracts.
10.    Corrective Actions
Suppliers shall establish procedures to ensure timely correction of deficiencies identified during internal or external assessments, inspections, investigations, and audits.
11.    Documentation and Records
Suppliers shall establish and maintain documents and records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards while protecting confidentiality and privacy.
12.    Supplier Responsibility
Suppliers shall establish procedures to communicate the requirements of this Code to their downstream suppliers and monitor their compliance.
