In light of upcoming inauguration of Haiwei Road in Annan District, Tainan City, Tainan Community University Taijiang Campus organized a "Haiwei Road Tree Planting" event in the early morning of the 12th, during which Ta Ya volunteers also appeared in support of the event. China berries were planted along the newly constructed road, and the volunteers gave their blessings, hoping that the trees may someday grow to cast a canopy over Haiwei Road.

Wu Maocheng, Principal of Tainan Community University Taijiang Campus, said: "Haiwei Village no longer exists as one of our administrative districts. With the inauguration of the new road, we may once again commemorate the Haiwei people and their pioneer spirits." China berry is a common species in the local area. It blossoms with light purple flowers at spring time and makes the perfect street tree in this case.

Led by Ta Ya Executive Vice President Shen Shangdao Shang-Tao, a total of 15 volunteers and their family members participated in the tree planting event. The group followed the organizer's instructions, carefully straightened the saplings, covered the roots with soil and watered them until they are fully moisturized.

Starting this year, Ta Ya volunteers have been collaborating with Taijiang Campus on a number of activities including coastal cleanup at Shanhaizhen and learning about basin maintenance. This event has brought Ta Ya volunteers closer to the local land.
