"Yi Tsai Club," an assembly of elite entrepreneurs in Tainan, held a ceremony at Tayih Landis Hotel Tainan on March 14, 2014 for the succession of its 12th chairperson, namely President Shen San-Yi of Ta Ya Electric Wire and Cable Co., Ltd. Vice President Wu Den-Yih of The Republic of China and Tainan City Mayor Lai Ching-Te were present at the ceremony, while similar organizations such as The Entrepreneur Club, The Elite Club, and the Kaohsiung Entrepreneurs Association had appointed representatives to bear witness to this grand event of the year.

Yi Tsai Club was founded in March 2003 by Mr. Wu Yongfeng from Tong Yang Group and Mr. Wu Junyi from Tayih Group. Its members consist mostly of entrepreneurs of public listed companies or outstanding professionals in Tainan. The club currently had 64 members, and represents more than NT$100 billion of share capital.

Vice President Wu Den-Yih first expressed the President's gratitude to the diligence and contributions made by all entrepreneurs present at the ceremony. He was especially impressed about how Ta Ya Electric Wire and Cable managed to remain full of energy even after 60 years. In 2008, Ta Ya became the first company in Taiwan capable of producing 345KV extra high voltage power cables. Later in 2011, Ta Ya won the "Green Classics Award" with its proprietary, halogen-free Green Wire, and it was Vice President Wu presented the award. At the end of his speech, Vice President Wu wished every present business leader "a profitable, legal, harmonious and sustainable business."

Mayor Lai thanked all members of Yi Tsai Club for their support to the city's development and charity needs since the city-county merger, which helped resolve many administrative challenges.

Mr. Shen, the new club chairperson, greeted the guests in Taiwanese dialect and wished everyone present a happy life. He then pointed out that in order to achieve Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS), businesses must take responsibility in promoting health and taking sustainable actions. In light of incidents such as hazardous starch, bogus edible oil and unauthorized discharge of effluents uncovered throughout 2013, Mr. Shen said in his personal experience with Ta Ya that: it is the responsibility of a good corporate citizen to reduce use of energy and resources, to dispose waste and hazardous substances in the utmost discretion, to provide employees with a healthy and safe work environment, and to continuously create employment opportunities and growth. The 21st century has presented many challenges to the business world, such as drastic changes of the industrial and natural environment, and increasing demands from employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, the general public and other stakeholders. It is moments like these that the business world must step up and introduce innovative ideas and practices to protect our homeland.

Ta Ya Group has been investing into different industries and expanding into China and Vietnam for many years;. It generates nearly NT$20 billion in revenues per year. In addition to seeking business growth, the group has also enhanced corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance and disclosure, created "TAYA Pristine Homeland" foundation, and introduced "Green Inside Project" as a means to reward and support green living visionaries throughout the nation.

Mr. Shen said: growth of the world's major economies is expected to pick up in the next two years, and growth momentum is likely to shift from emerging economies to developed economies. While we remain optimistic about our future prospects, we shall also maintain our friendliness to the environment and ensure coexistence with nature. Lastly, Mr. Shen hoped to lead the Yi Tsai Club to continually support industries in Tainan, and offer recommendations and engage in communications where appropriate for the benefit of club members and the public.
