Ta Ya Venture Capital Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as Ta Ya Venture Capital) has been focusing and supporting Taiwan’s biotech industry development and is particularly willing to offer support and resources to innovative biotech companies that combine Taiwan’s tech niches and characteristics. Ta Ya Venture Capital took part in the capital increase for Iridium Medical Technology Company (hereinafter referred to as IMTC), hoping that such a supportive gesture to IMTC will also catalyze a new collaborative model between Taiwan’s IC industry and biomedical industry.
The IMTC has a core technology in combining IC technology with neural interface and is devoted to developing artificial retina based on this core technology, with expectations to help visually impaired patients to restore their sight and subsequently upgrade life quality.
Taipei City Government in recent years has been committed to assisting domestic biotech related companies in raising their international profile for an international connection. Today (June 30) sees the 14th award ceremony of Taipei Biotech Awards. Each year, scholars and experts in finance, venture capital and outstanding domestic and overseas businesses gather to help with reviewing biotech companies from all over Taiwan that have registered for the award. This year (2017), a total of 55 companies entered the selection process. The three award categories include "Innovation Award", "Go-Global Award" and "Technology Transfer Award", presented by Taipei City Major, Ko Wen-je (Image 1). The IMTC receives the prestigious honor of “Innovation Bronze Medal Award”. It is hoped that via this award ceremony Taiwan’s outstanding biotech companies can raise their international profile and be seen all over the world and that more Taiwanese companies will as a result be encouraged to take bold action in industry transformation and innovation.
