The 2017 Taya Phoenix Blossom Discussion Forum on the circular economy was held earlier in the Magic School of Green Technologies of National Cheng Kung University. Not everyone is familiar with the concept of 5+2. The forum aimed to explore circular economy concepts that facilitate smooth community operations and greater autonomy. This includes the composting of kitchen waste for vegetable growing and sale back to communities or hydropower plants for tribal communities. Every covered topic resembles a facet of community life. Social resources can be utilized to solve social problems.
The 2017 Taya Phoenix Blossom Discussion Forum was held on the 14th in the Chung-Hwa Hall of the Magic School of Green Technologies of National Cheng Kung University. This year’s forum focused on the “self-creation” of a pristine homeland through a circular economy. Linhai Farm founder Pierre Loisel; Hope Market initiator Meng-Kai Chen; Mr. Bing-Heng Chen, Secretary-General of Taiwan Environmental Protection Union; Mr. Jian-Zhi Wu, Taisugar Land Development Division; and Mr. Bo-Hong Liu, Chairman of the Pristine Homeland Foundation turned the event into a great success.
The 2017 Taya Phoenix Blossom Discussion Forum was organized by the Taya Pristine Homeland Foundation an affiliate of the Taya Group to advocate eco-friendly lifestyles. This was the sixth time this event was organized. During the event, 8 prize winners are determined in a “Green Inside” selection process and awarded a Pristine Homeland Prize of NT$ 30,000 each. A total of 89 teams and individuals have been recognized with awards so far.
Taya Group Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung stated in his address during the event that the circular economy concept and waste recycling and reuse are related but not identical. The main premise of the circular economy concept is that humans are not only energy consumers but can also create their own values and turn into links of the circular economy cycle. He firmly believes that the stories associated with the annual assembly of brilliant individuals or convergence of creative plans which will be featured in a documentary titled “Eco-friendliness Specialists” are highly inspiring.
Mr. Bo-Hong Liu, Chairman of Taya Pristine Homeland Foundation pointed out that a rising number of technology experts have become involved in organic farming. Despite the fact that they are engaged in different fields, it is a conspicuous trend. They all value the connection between the soil and our food and health. Countless communities embrace the goal of creating a “pristine homeland”. This event provides a forum for the sharing and discussion of practical experiences in the field of environmental protection and inspires positive action toward a sustainable lifestyle.
Linhai Farm Founder Pierre Loisel, a Canadian national who used to be the Vice President of a computer company. He shared his experiences of collecting kitchen waste from neighbors, patient composting, and careful planting and growing of 20 different kinds of vegetables on an area of 3000 sqm. He built his own organic farm, selling the produce back to the company. In the Shimen area, he created a simple and feasible waste and energy cycle. He pointed out that the main goal is not merely to solve the problem of kitchen waste but rather to help small farmers realize organic farming and thereby improve people’s health.
