Venture Capital Drives Business Growth as Taya Distributes a Record NTD1.7 Dividend
Innovative Strategies Bolster the Energy Chain, EPS Reaches a Historic High of NTD3.91
Taya Group (1609) held its shareholders' meeting today (31/5), announcing a cash dividend of NTD1.2 per share and a stock dividend of NTD0.5 per share, totaling NTD1.7 per share, with a payout ratio of 43.48%. EPS climbed to NTD3.91, marking the highest dividend payout and EPS in the company’s history. Commenting on these impressive results, Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung of Taya Group stated, "In response to the global economic downturn, Taya Group has actively pursued diversification strategies. In 2023, the group achieved a consolidated revenue of NTD26.435 billion. In 2024, we will steadfastly implement the group’s 3E strategy (Emerging, Energy, ESG) to strengthen our core business and foster new opportunities in venture capital."
Despite ongoing challenges such as the U.S.-China chip war, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Hamas-Israel clashes, and reduced consumer spending in the Chinese market, Taya Group has benefited from grid resilience initiatives and renewable energy policies, maintaining robust demand for its wires and cables business. Among its divisions, the Magnet Wires Business Group sustained steady growth in 2023, despite reduced demand from the motor industry and a slowdown in inventory reduction within the electronics sector. In 2024, the group plans to expand its supply to sectors such as drones, low-Earth orbit satellites, and electric vehicles, with promising operational performance expected in the future. In terms of energy projects, the group achieved a solar power meter quota of 212MW, and its energy storage equipment reached several key milestones in 2023, including 4.5MW of grid frequency support services in Baoan and 2.5MW in Guiren. The group’s AFC capacity now totals 13MW, with its solar-storage systems reaching 36.5MW. In the venture capital sector, profits from investments in Bora Pharmaceuticals and WinWay Technology contributed NTD2.7 billion in non-operating income to the group, representing a 215% increase compared to 2022, significantly boosting EPS growth in 2023.
Looking ahead to 2024, Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung emphasized that Taya Group will continue to uphold its proactive approach in its comprehensive energy chain layout, focusing on enhancing research and manufacturing capabilities to make energy transmission and conversion more efficient, and further expanding its market share domestically and internationally. From May 30 to June 1, the Energy & Telecom Cable Business Group, Magnet Wires Business Group, and the group’s subsidiary Union Storage Energy System will participate in the 2024 Tainan Green Industry EXPO. In addition to showcasing the strengths of its wires and cables and magnet wire products, Union Storage Energy System will also exhibit its self-designed and developed Battery Management System (BMS), integrating innovative communication technologies to provide customers with comprehensive energy storage operation and maintenance, as well as energy management solutions. Moreover, Taya will accelerate the development of large-scale projects in central Taiwan in 2024. The Fishery and Electricity Symbiosis (FES) plant in Yunlin is actively under development and is expected to be metered by the end of 2027. The 100MW E-dReg project by Infinity Energy Storage Technology in Taichung broke ground in March this year and is expected to go live on the Taiwan Power Company’s Energy Trading Platform in June 2025, with an estimated total daily energy storage capacity of approximately 200,000 kWh. Taya’s efforts to promote renewable energy beyond solar power will continue unabated. Taya Venture will also keep seeking new investment opportunities, aiming to discover the next rising star and create a win-win situation for both society and business development. As Taya approaches its 70th anniversary in 2025, the group will continue to pursue its vision as "A Creator of Harmonious Environment and Pristine Homeland," accelerating its progress towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
