Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable Chairman Shen Shang-Hung Takes Over as TPiSA Chairman

The Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry System Association (TPiSA) held its first term, fourth general assembly on the 30th, electing the second term board of directors and supervisors, and nominating Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable Chairman Shen Shang-Hung as the second chairman. Founding chairman and Ina Energy Chairman Tsai Chia-Jin stepped down after completing his mission, officially passing the baton, and was elected as honorary chairman by the board of directors.

TPiSA was established in 2022, initially composed of 23 large domestic solar developers, known as the "100MW Club," making it the youngest corporate legal entity in the solar photovoltaic industry. Over three years, membership has grown to 73 companies; the association serves as a communication bridge between industry and government, frequently proposing constructive suggestions on industry development and policy directions with significant impact, and also represents industry players in exchanges and dialogues with environmental groups and the public, wielding considerable influence.

The general assembly was held on the afternoon of the 30th at the Grand Hotel Taipei, with attendance from Ministry of Economic Affairs Political Deputy Minister He Jin-Cang, Acting Director of the Energy Administration Li Jun-Li and division heads, Taipower General Manager Wang Yao-ting, and multiple representatives from the Industrial Technology Research Institute. System Guild Chairman Liao Zhen-Song, Chief Vice Chairman Lin Xin-Bao, and multiple guild representatives also attended to express congratulations.

In his remarks, Li Jun-Li praised the efforts of photovoltaic industry players, noting that achievements under conditions of limited land and numerous restrictions were hard-won. He pointed out that the government will lead the industry toward overseas development in the future, and when Taiwanese businesses pivot to establish factories in response to high U.S. tariffs, solar energy companies can seize opportunities to provide local green electricity. System Guild Chairman Liao Zhen-Song expressed confidence in the future, believing that storms will eventually pass. Semiconductor and RE100 companies have high demand for green electricity. Last year, green electricity transfer volume reached 3 billion kWh, creating 15 billion in output value. He urged industry players to work hard on positive communication to correct negative market perceptions

Tsai Chia-Jin used "graduation" as a metaphor for stepping down from his important role, and will travel to Germany on May 7th to visit the European Smart Energy Exhibition. He praised Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable Chairman Shen Shang-Hung for his remarkable management in solar photovoltaics and being a leader in the cable industry, who will lead the association to become even stronger. He demonstrated his consistent spirit as a photovoltaic evangelist, delivering a concise speech that highlighted many key points of solar photovoltaics, and urged the media to provide more coverage. Shen Shang-Hung took over as chairman with unanimous support from members. He recognized the contributions of the first chairman and the board of directors and supervisors team, emphasizing that the association's charter includes both photovoltaics and energy storage, which will be developed simultaneously. Taipower has already opened bids for solar-plus-storage projects in April, and he hopes to overcome difficulties and move forward with assistance from regulatory authorities and full cooperation from the industry.
