While demands for conventional cables become saturated, Ta Ya Electric Wire and Cable managed to embrace green opportunities and develop a series of environment-friendly products called the Green Wire that allowed the company to standard out amidst competitors and win the 2011 Green Classics Award organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Ta Ya, the leader of the cable industry, will be participating in Tainan Green Technology Industry Expo today (the 16th) to introduce low-smoke, halogen-free, and green classic products to shed new light to the industry.
Dr. Lu Te-Tsung, Vice President of Ta Ya's Telecommunication Business Group, said that Ta Ya Group Chairman Shen Shang-Hung and President Shen San Yi   saw the rise in the world's energy and carbon reduction awareness as early as 5 years ago. Since then, the two of them have embarked on a mission to market green products. In order to provide the conventional cable business with new life and new brand value, the business group realized that, apart from seeking product innovation through the production of Green Wire, the company also requires its employees to "think innovatively." Innovation remains one of Ta Ya's fundamental values, because the uprise of green products will ultimately reshape the cable industry and bring new implications to environmental protection and social issues.
Lu Te-Tsung said that Ta Ya's Green Wire represents a model innovation in Taiwan's cable industry, for which it received Type 1 ECO Label from the Environmental Protection Administration in 2008. To build up green competitiveness, Ta Ya produces its Green Wire using halogen-free plastics. It features high flame retardance, produces very little smoke when burnt, and generates no hazardous substance such as dioxin and haloid acid.
Ta Ya's achievement in high voltage cables is especially significant, for it was the first Taiwanese cable manufacturer to successfully produce and deliver 161KV and 345KV cables according to Taiwan Power Company's standards. In the future, Ta Ya will adhere to its spirit of ongoing improvement and innovation to grow business throughout Taiwan, China, Vietnam and other parts of the world, while at the same time invest into other industries outside manufacturing, such as creativity, industrial design, and construction.

Ta Ya currently has 3 factories in China that produce and sell Green Wires directly. Sales offices have been established in metropolitan areas including Chongqing and Tianjin for distribution, and two more sales offices will be added in China sometime this year. In Vietnam, Ta Ya has factory establishments located in Dong Nai Province and Hai Duong Province, and a sales office located in the central region. Overall, Ta Ya aims to expand its business in the emerging markets and promote Green Wire to the rest of the world through overseas offices.
