To celebrate Ta Ya's 60th anniversary, Ta Ya (Vietnam) organized its first Ta Ya Cup Basketball Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City; a total of ten basketball teams registered for the tournament. In the opening match on November 8, Ta Ya's team FBC defeated team Hustle from Korea 58:37.

Since Ta Ya (Viet Nam) Electric Wire & Cable was first founded at Bien Hoa 2nd Industrial Zone, Dong Nai, in 1995, the company has been a stronger performer among locals and received multiple awards as a result. In order to share the joy of Ta Ya's 60th anniversary with other Taiwanese enterprises operating locally, the company decided to organized the basketball tournament on a larger scale with the support of Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (Dong Nai Branch and Ho Chi Minh City Branch) and Hoang Tra Travel Agency.

President Wang Dingshu of Ta Ya (Vietnam) said: "Our purpose for organizing Ta Ya Cup is to make friends through sports, and provide fellow Taiwanese people an opportunity to take on challenge and spend energy in ways they normally wouldn't. Most importantly, we hope to make this tournament the memory shared by all participating teams." Ta Ya's basketball team consists not only of Ta Ya employees, but suppliers and customers as well. The team practiced regularly under the leadership of formally trained basketball players, and eagerly prepared themselves for action.

The tournament takes place every Sunday between November and December on the basketball court of Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City. Businesses from Ho Chi Minh City and nearby Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces were also invited to participate. Teams assembled by Taiwanese businesses included: Binh Duong A, Binh Duong B, Pou Yuen A, Pou Yuan B, Freetrend, Formosa Basketball Club, and Ho Chi Minh Leopard. Taking into account the Korean team Hustle, the Filipino team Saigon beerman and Ta Ya's own FBC, the tournament will see ten teams competing in two divisions. The tournament is expected to progress into the semifinals on December 13 and finals on December 20.
