In the afternoon, President Tsai Ing-Wen traveled southbound to Guanmiao, Tainan, and paid visit to Ta Ya Group, a local company known for wire and cable production and green energy. During her visit, President Tsai thanked Ta Ya for supplying quality products to multiple major infrastructures throughout Taiwan, and acknowledged Ta Ya's support to the government's green energy and southbound expansion policies. In response, Ta Ya Chairman Shen Shang-Hung expressed his concurrence with the government's southbound expansion policy and said: "No matter how tough the challenge and pressure is, we must be patient and persistent about what needs to be done, because it is the right direction forward."

President Tsai Ing-Wen said that she was pleased to see the ambition in local companies and dedication that the local government had shown during her visit. These were the motivations that Taiwan is in desperate need of. The future of Taiwan's industry will depend on the central government's ability to coordinate resources throughout the nation and rally support from local government bodies and businesses.

Tsai Ing-Wen emphasized that Shalun, Tainan, will be the center of Taiwan's green and renewable energy industry in the future. The reason for choosing Shalun is that the location is ideally suitable for the purpose, and that Tainan City Government has shown strong ambition to run the project over the long term.

President Tsai has expressed her support to Tainan City Government's HSR Special Zone Development Project, while the Executive Yuan has also promised budget in the coming year. In terms of software, the southern branch of Academia Sinica will be collaborating with National Chiao Tung University and National Cheng Kung University to form the largest research alliance in Taiwan and attract occupancy from industry participants. Tsai Ing-Wen is confident of the project's potential to revolutionize the local industry and connect to the world. Therefore, she invited everyone to contribute wisdom to help Taiwan progress into the next era.
