Ta Ya Group, a 61-year old wire and cable manufacturer domiciled in Guanmiao District, Tainan City, is an active supporter of the government's southbound expansion policy. On the 5th of this month, Tainan City Mayor Lai Ching-Te accompanied President Tsai Ing-Wen to a visit at Ta Ya Group, where they were briefed on the progress of the company's business transformation.

Lai Ching-Te said that Tainan City's green energy zone project conforms with one of the focuses of President Tsai Ing-Wen's industrial policies. Ta Ya Group, too, has made good progress with regards to green energy and environmental protection, expanding power capacity by 10MW a year, for which he felt privileged to have invited Tsai Ing-Wen to the visit. Tainan City offers the right conditions and resources for the green energy industry to thrive, and the city government will be working closely with industry participants to make sure that is the case; in return, Lai asked industry participants for their support to the government's policies.

President Tsai Ing-Wen said that the purpose of her visit to Ta Ya Group was to learn about the company's transformation, both in terms of result and process. The group's progress in the solar and renewable energy business is a good reflection of Ta Ya's ambitions, the government's industry development efforts, and benefits that both parties can achieve working together.

President Tsai Ing-Wen further acknowledged Ta Ya Group's significance in Taiwan for its production capacity and support to the government's southbound expansion policies; both of which make good examples to the commercial world. As for the government's industry policies, the ultimate purpose is to help conventional industries transform and engage in high value-adding activities. Meanwhile, the green energy zone created at Shalun, Guiren will be the key to helping Tainan industries advance to the next generation. It would take everyone's cooperation to create new opportunities for Taiwan's industries.

During the conference, Ta Ya Group Chairman Shen Shang-Hung shared his experience on how the company has rooted in Taiwan and invested extensively in raising production capacity and creating job opportunities. Lastly, Director General Fang Jin-Cheng of Tainan City Government Bureau of Economic Development delivered a briefing on "Current State and Future of Tainan as a Photovoltaic City," and gave President Tsai Ing-Wen and guests a more thorough understanding about green energy business in Tainan.
