Taya Group established Taya Green Energy Technology in 2014 to engage in the development of solar power plants. Under the premise of careful selection of excellent sites, an accumulated installed capacity in excess of 10MW has been achieved. In addition, the joint venture Hengs Technology Co., Ltd. became the first EPC business in Taiwan and the second in Asia to acquire a German TÜV Rheinland power plant O&M certification that ensures optimal assurance of solar power plant operations over a period of at least 20 years.

Taya Group, which specializes in the manufacture of electric wires and cables, established Taya Green Energy Technology in 2014 in an effort to gain a foothold in the solar power plant industry. The goal is an installed capacity of 50MW within 5 years based on the principles of careful site selection and adoption of Build-Own-Operate (BOO) models. In 2015, a total capacity of 2.89 MW was installed on the roof of the factory building of Taya HQ in Guanmiao.

The Executive Yuan actively promotes an energy system characterized by low-carbon sustainability, high quality and stability, efficiency and economy. The goal is to boost economic growth and generate a catalyst for economic development through green energy industry development. As a state-owned enterprise, Taisugar is firmly committed to the development of green energy sources to make a contribution to the conservation of the global environment that is in line with government policies.

The Taisugar Shalun Ranch is located in the Guiren District of Tainan City. Taya leased a pigpen roof area totaling 33,000 sqm from the Livestock Division of Taiwan Sugar Corporation for the installation of solar power facilities with a total capacity of 2284.91 kW. These installations that were connected to the grid on September 22, 2017 boost the total installed capacity to over 10MW. The PV panels installed on the pigpen roofs do not take up any farmland and effectively decrease the temperature inside the pen thereby indirectly contributing to the reduction of power consumption and GHG emissions.

In addition, Hengs Technology Co., Ltd., which is responsible for solar power plant construction and in which Taya Group holds a stake, became the first EPC business in Taiwan and the second in Asia to acquire a German TÜV Rheinland power plant O&M certification. TÜV Rheinland is currently the only institution in the world that provides O&M certification services for solar power plants. Hengs Technology passed this certification after intensive reviews and adjustments over a period of more than six months by breaking through the vicious cycle of fierce price competition. This certification ensures optimal assurance of solar power plant operations over a period of at least 20 years and represents a concrete manifestation of Taya’s commitment to sustainable operations.

With regard to the recent government policy of encouraging citizens to install green energy systems on rooftops, Taya Group Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung points out that he is heartened by the recent increase of zero-carbon energy sources. Taya Green Energy Technology has strong capabilities in the field of power plant operation and management. The company currently actively utilizes the rooftops of medium- and large-sized enterprises to achieve the goal of annual new installations of 10MW. It is expected that grid-connected installations will reach a total capacity of 25MW by mid-2018.
