Energy transition and low-carbon sustainability are highly concerned issues in Taiwan. The carbon-free and air pollution-free solar power and offshore wind power are given high hopes. Ta Ya Group has been founded for over 60 years. It has a solid foundation on electric wires and cables and extended its business to solar energy in 2014. By selecting excellent projects, the accumulated device capacity is estimated to reach 28MW in 2018. The enormous amount of power created from offshore wind power requires strong and reliable submarine cables for transfer. Ta Ya is the leader of ultra high voltage cables in Taiwan. Ta Ya actively plans its submarine cable business to welcome age of green energy.
In 2015, Ta Ya Guanmiao headquarters was the first to complete a solar power plant roof. Ta Ya takes on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, selecting the roofs of medium and large plants first to prevent conflicts with farmland.
In 2017, partnering with Taiwan Sugar, photovoltaic panels were installed on the stable roofs of Shalun husbandry. The panels lowered the temperatures of the stables, lowered power consumption, and decreased greenhouse gas emissions. The first land solar power plant is located at the subsidence area of Kouhu. The meters are installed and operations will start soon.
From the offshore wind power plant selection project application totaling 10.6GW that ended in March, Taiwan Strait has an incredible potential for wind power.
In 2013, Ta Ya invested in the research of submarine cable design, manufacturing, and error detection design. In coordination with the wind power plant construction schedule, mass production will begin in 2021, which will promote industry advancements and provide hundreds of job opportunities.
