Taya Group has organized “The Pristine Homeland Event” for seven consecutive years. Every year experts and scholars are invited to give keynote speeches and participate in panel discussions. The 2018 Phoenix Blossom Forum was held in the morning of the 8th under the main theme of “New Generation Marine Litter Processing”. Industry experts were invited to share insights on the issue of marine litter processing and thereby inspire action and contributions to sustainable life.
Taya Group Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung states that the company has made a long-term commitment to the cleaning of beaches all over the island. In the course of our work, we have come to the realization that it is impossible to clear all garbage that litters our beaches. This garbage is not solely generated by tourists visiting our beaches but may rather be explained by the fact that Taiwan is surrounded by oceans. Multiple ocean currents converge here and cause marine debris from different areas to litter our beaches. This is a “gift” we cannot refuse. The problem of marine debris has drawn increasing attention in Taiwan. Images of stranded whales and dolphins, their stomachs filled with plastic bags, and sea turtles with straws up their noses are heartbreaking. The purpose of this forum is to raise public concern for the issue of marine debris and marine ecosystems.
