The “Green” economy has emerged as a new dominant trend in international economies. In order to boost the driving forces for Taiwan’s green industries and facilitate exchange among domestic businesses, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has initiated the Green Trade Promotion Project (Green Office), which in turn established Green Connect (alliance of green manufacturers) in northern, central and southern Taiwan. The goal of Green Connect is to facilitate vendor/manufacturer alliance and formation of teams to achieve the objective of overseas marketing and distribution.
The first Green Connect event was held yesterday (15) in Taipei. According to Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) Director General Yang Jen-Ni, BOFT will be responsible for the implementation of the Green Trade Promotion Project, with special emphasis on international marketing and connection of industries as key points of promotion. Given the diverse scope of green trade, BOFT is looking to encourage manufacturers and businesses to extend their products and services to the realm of circular economy.
TAITRA President & CEO Yeh Ming-Shui pointed out that green economy has become a major trend in the development of industries around the world. And as such, the MOEA has initiated the Green Connect with the intention of pooling domestic manufacturer/vendor resources to fortify domestic industries while gathering market intelligence and improving Taiwan’s international image. In the implementation of this project, TAITRA has established “Green Windows” in the five target nations in the New Southern Policy: Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and India. The Green Window also accepts requests from domestic manufacturers and vendors for professional guidance and assistance.
For the first Green Connect event, the Green Office has invited representatives from TSEC and TECO Corp. to give keynote speeches. For the events in Tainan today (16th) and Taichung on the 17th, Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable and Chang Hong Co., Ltd. will also be presenting the keynote speeches.
Principal Investigators Zou Hui-Ling and Tsai Chen-Chiu from the Green Office have also presented detailed explanation on this year’s “Green Trade Promotion Project” and “Exploring Green Business Opportunities Worldwide” respectively. The event was intended for relevant manufacturers and vendors to share their experiences in green marketing with participating businesses. In the three Green Connect events, the Green Office has also invited Ta Ya Electric Wire & Cable, Big Sun Technology Inc., Chung-Hsin Electric & Machinery Mfg. Corp, Spring Pool Glass Industrial Co., Ltd. Everest Textile Co., Ltd., Hengs Technology Co., Ltd. and GET Green Energy to share their experiences with the participants.
