TAYA Chairman Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung: Medical Technology becomes the New Blue Ocean [NOWNEWS Report]

The end of the US-China trade war situation is difficult to see, making business competition in the international market more complicated. How the Taiwan businesses can extend "Smart x Innovation" has become an inevitable way of survival. The Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association is optimistic about the development of the medical technology industry and the Executive Director of the Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, who is also the Chairman of the TAYA Electric Wire & Cable, Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung, said at a forum today (30th), the world's major manufacturers including GE, Philips and Siemens have already actively invested in medical technology development, and Taiwan can also integrate the "Excellent Medical System and Strong Electronic Industry" to create high-value applications in the medical and electronics industries, finding an excellent way out for Taiwan transformation, and jointly creating a new blue ocean for businesses.
        The Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association today held the "2019 Taiwan Japan Collaborative Business Innovation Forum" with the theme of "Technology Encounters Medical, Cross-domain Smart Innovation" and combined the elites of industry, government and academe, research and medicine, to start cross-domain collaborative business innovation for both industries of medical and electronic, hoping to seize new blue ocean business opportunities in the new competitive era.
        The Forum was jointly opened and delivered the welcoming speech by the Executive Director of Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung, and the Chairman of Taiwan Biotech, Mr. George Ko, The Association Consultant and former Minister of Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. Shih, Yen-Shiang, introduced the “Intelligence without Boundary, Innovation has the Way” and the Chairman of the Collaborative Business Innovation Committee, President of Cadmen Taiwan Auto-Design Co., Mr. Nerow Yang, delivered the "New Blue Ocean of Electrical and Electronic Industry - Trends and Opportunities in Medical Materials Research and Development."
        When Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung delivered the opening speech, he also talked about the Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and was very optimistic about the development of the medical technology industry. In addition to promoting the enlightenment cooperation between Taiwan medical system and the electronics industry, he also hopes to create a new competitive era in high-value applications of the medical and electronics industries, to create a new blue ocean for businesses, from pure OEM, component manufacturing to high-value applications.
        He also brought up his own observations to share with everyone. Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung said that many of the world's major manufacturers, including GE, Philips, and Siemens have been actively investing in medical technology development very early, and even like the AI Chip of chip manufacturer NVIDIA, is combined with Genetic CT inspection device, to make the MIR devices more intelligent and faster in processing the medical data and technical analysis, to improve the accuracy of the physicians' diagnosis.
        In addition, the Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association also has many member manufacturers expanding medical deployment, for example, the well known founder of Foxconn Group, Mr. Terry Gou, has been building smart wards very early. Wistron Medical GNP OEM also cooperates with En Chu Kong Hospital. Also, Quanta has been developing medical AI for a long time and is cooperating with National Cheng Kung University Senior Citizens Hospital, and Qisda has already advanced westward, and opened two BenQ Medical Centers in Mainland China that have been profitable.
       In terms of collaboration between industry and research, Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung mentioned the system engineering and missile tracking technology of the MRSRD of the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and also cooperated with the National Taiwan University Hospital in the Portable Anesthesia Depth Monitoring System, so that doctors can better understand the anesthesia condition of the patients when performing anesthesia surgery to protect the safety of patients.
        In terms of electronic medical in the future, the medical care and assistive devices are also moving toward electronic and information communication, so that the support of physical disorders and chronic diseases and elderly home care are more convenient and safe. In addition, Iridium Medical Technology also conducts technological innovations with electronic neural interface, and allows the people with blindness due to retinal problems to regain their sight with the bionic retina, just like the electronic eye. This is believed that it can greatly benefit humanity.
       Mr. Shen, Shang-Hung finally stressed that Taiwan has an excellent medical system and a strong electronics industry. He believes that the cooperation in collaborative innovation between the electronics industry and medical system shall create a good way out for Taiwan's transformation.
        Mr. Shih, Yen-Shiang also mentioned that Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association took the initiative to organize the Forum this time, indicating that the electronics industry has a high degree of attention and willingness to participate in this issue. Now the global electronic technology manufacturers are paying close attention to the development of medical equipment, and also entering the medical, devices and services. He felt that Taiwan Medical Care is very strong and with the introduction of electronic technology, he believe that "Strength Combines with Strength" will bring out more sparks. There are also many Companies in Taiwan that invest in medical technology like Qisda, Foxconn and Iridium, although it is still in the investment stage without profits, the road of this field is very wide and a bit long, and many domestic preferential electronics manufacturers have accumulated huge management and technology, I believe that they will lead the Taiwan medical technology into a much broader field.
