On May 4, the TAYA Pristine Homeland Foundation (Green Inside) organized the third volunteer event. The event, “Butterfly Eats Grass: Fun of Eco-Tour” was held at the Erren River Basic Education Center. Senior management members including Chairman Shen, Shang-Hung; General Manager Chuang, Pa-Kuei of the Energy and Telecom Cable Business Group; and Deputy General Manager Chiu, Jung-Kun of the Magnet Wire Business Group also joined this volunteer event.
The event attracted over 100 employees and their families. It was divided into two parts: ecological and environmental building, and DIY.
The ecological and environmental building included plantation and ecological pond building. In this event, the blood-flower milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) was grown. After arranging all plants, mowing began then planation came the last. By building the ecological pond at the Erren River, we aim to provide a habitat for the reproduction of the Gunther’s frog (Rana guentheri) and the ditch jewel (Brachythemis contaminate). Through the digging of volunteer employees, we contributed to the ecosystems of the Erren River.
With the legume of the Pongam oil tree (Millettia pinnata), the samara of the Taiwan golden-rain tree (Koelreuteria elegans) and small branches, we made a model of the eastern grass owl (Tyto longimembris) during the DIY session. Although the same materials were used, the creativity and brainstorming of individuals gave the eastern grass owl a thousand faces.
The event went smoothly with the assistance of Wetlands Taiwan and the enthusiastic participation of the Taya employees. In addition to allowing the participants to engage in environmental protection personally, the environmental watch events organized by the volunteers also help promote friendship among the families and coworkers.
